While the potential benefits of outsourcing are incredible, it can be tempting to fill in too many responsibilities too quickly. The risk of hiring too many people is ending up with freelancers who you can neither trust nor manage effectively.
The best way to avoid this issue is to hire gradually and wait for all of the applications to come in. That way, you can get comfortable with managing each of your freelancers and have more options available. When your team gets larger, consider hiring a manager to help you out with looking after your team.
2. Hiring Low Cost Freelancers To Save Money
In his book The Virgin Way, Richard Branson emphasises the importance of building a strong team. I have hired low cost freelancers and more expensive freelancers. The rule of thumb is that you get what you pay for.
When I first started to outsource my tasks, I hired the lowest cost freelancers because I believed I was being efficient with my time and my money. The result was inefficient work and I had to get involved several times to get the work done.
Now I hire the more expensive freelancers with better experience. The value your team creates is more important than how much money you pay for your team members.
3. Not Outsourcing At All
Every successful person has a team behind him or her. If you don’t have a team yet, start building one now to save time and explore new opportunities. Never make the mistake of doing it all on your own.
