As Facebook turns 10 years old this week, we take a look at the numbers and count down 10 interesting facts about the Internet giant.

TEN In 2010, Facebook acquired the domain name fb.com for US$8.5 million, putting it in the top 10 of highest domain sales in history.

NINE Chief executive Mark Zuckerberg is 29 years old. That means he’s spent nearly a third of his life running Facebook.

EIGHT Ivy Bean, of Bradford, England, joined Facebook in 2008 at the age of 102, making her one of the oldest people ever on Facebook. When she died in 2010 she had 4,962 friends on Facebook.

SEVEN Approximately 350 million photos are uploaded to Facebook everyday. That means Facebook stores around 250 billion images.

SIX 64% of Facebook users visit the site on a daily basis, yet 25% of users say that they never change or update their status.

FIVE Facebook is worth over US$150 billion. So if you happened to buy shares in the company in 2012, today you will have made a profit.

FOUR Some 945 million users access Facebook from their smartphone or mobile device every month.

THREE With over 1 billion regular users, if Facebook were a country it would be the third largest in the world by population.

TWO There are over 201 billion friend connections on Facebook, and 6 billion likes per day.

ONE As CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has a salary of just US$1 per year. But according to Forbes, he’s worth about US$19 billion.
